Ongoing and Future Projects
Katrina Relief
In 2005 Medical Teams Worldwide sent $5000 of medicines and supplies to Charity Hospital in New Orleans. That was the hospital most devastated by hurricane Katrina in that city. As our resources come in we will continue to support that facility.
Mfingo Island Orphanage, Kenya
In 2006 Medical Teams Worldwide plans to send a team medical team to Mfingo Island to help the orphanage run by the Gesethemane project. The orphanaege helps the children orphaned by the aids epidemic in Kenya hasg affected up to 25% of the population of that country. We are also fabricating and sending a solar powered medical clinic for that island.
Susan Intong Mercy Project
This Ocotober, MTWW is bringing Susan Intong back to the United States to start her treatments for the disfiguring burns. She will require mulitiple surgeries and will be staying in the United States at least a year. She will be treated at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, Washington. Medical Teams Worldwide will be providing housing and personal needs for Susan and her translator while they are here in the United States.
Southern Sudan Medical Relief
Medical Teams Worldwide plans to return to the Blue Nile region of Southern Sudan. We’ve been requested by G.O.A.L., an Irish relief organization, to continue our medical relief, this time in the village of Wadaga. We plan to return in fall 2006.
